| この作品はワールドトレードセンター周辺を掃除し、そのゴミをフィルターで漉して、細かな粒子だけの物で作られています。 定着剤などは使わず、風が吹けば消えて無くなるような仮設的なものです。 私達日本人は枯山水と言って、あたかも水があるように想定して中庭を造る習慣があります。 水の代わりに砂利石を使い、波紋を模したり流れを作ったりするのです。 このホコリで出来た作品を池と例える思考は日本人にとってごく簡単なことなのです。 池の中心には２つの涙が落ちた瞬間の水の跳ね上がるイメージ。 トレードセンター周辺は毎日掃除されていて一件綺麗なのですが、その直ぐ近くには吹き溜まりが存在していて、そこには取り残された残骸の一部があるのです。

Kaihatsu had gone to Ground Zero to clean the debris from the tragedy, then organized it in a shape of a pond based on Japanese conception of Karesansui gardening. In Karesansui, Japanese draw water ripples with pebbles and imagine real water. To his imagination, the circular figure made up of debris from the World Trade Center is a pond reflecting two teardrops from the eyes in the center of the installation. At a glance, Ground Zero is now cleaned, yet in hidden corners one can still find debris.
